Jericoacoara Tours & Activities
Tatajuba by Dune Buggy
Tour details
Tatajuba by Dune Buggy
We will depart from Jericoacoara, according to the ocean tides, in the direction of the sunset dune. Continuing along the beach to Mangue Seco, we will stop where the locals offer a short boat trip along the banks of the Gurju River and a glimpse at the Cavalhos Marinhos (Horse Fish).
Further along the beach the dune buggy and passengers cross the Guriú River by raft, and then continue on through the Mangue trees to Old Tatajuba, where the natural movement of the dunes covered this tiny village many years ago. We'll cross over some of the highest dunes surrounded by spectacular views in every direction before arriving at Lagoa da Torta and New Tatajuba, which appears in the distance like an oasis in the desert.
The banks of the lake are lined with barraca restaurants serving fresh fish, shrimp, and lobster in the traditional cooking style. There are wooden tables and chairs in the water with over-hanging umbrellas to give your skin a well-deserved rest from the sun. Nearby, there are hammocks which hang just above the water where you can take an after-lunch snooze before heading back over a different route across the dunes to the river crossing and back to Jericoacoara. The trip ends at the foot of the sunset dune just in time to watch the sun go down.
