Pedra Furada Hike
Tour details
Pedra Furada Hike
The hike itself starts from your hotel going east along the beach for approximately 3 km. During low tide, one can often make it the entire way along Malhada and Pontal Beach (not recommended without a local guide that is familiar with the tides). Most prefer to go along the grassy trail just beyond the cliffs with panoramic views of the spectacular scenery in every direction.
The hike takes a minimum of 3 hours round trip depending upon the route and how long you spend at Pedra Furada. It is highly recommended wearing tennis shoes, hiking boots or at the very least beach sandals. There is some difficult terrain going over rocks along the way, not to mention the rare but occasional snake.
Once reaching the cliffs above Pedra Furada, the guide will help you descend to beach level where most take advantage of the photo opportunities. Between the beginning of June and end of July, the sun can often be captured going down in the opening of the rock which can be seen on many of the local area postcards.
There is no set time frame for any of the stops along way. The tour is approximately 3 hours round trip of easy walking parallel to the ocean with short breaks.
The guide will keep you informed on the tides, distances between the beaches and points of interest along the way. You can stop for a swim or to snap a photo whenever you wish...
